So many times poor eating choices result from making a food choice based on time and convenience. Below is an example of how we can consume unnecessary sodium during at the beginning of our day. Two oatmeal offerings, same company but the sodium content is very different.
The prepackaged low sugar maple brown sugar oatmeal contains 290 mg of sodium. While the quick 1 minute oatmeal contains ZERO mg of sodium. Keep in mind the American Heart Association recommends a diet of less than 1,500 mg per day.
If you are on the go, a potential solution is to bag the 1 minute oats, mix in some brown sugar and a dried fruit. This leaves with a balance of 1800 mg for lunch and dinner!
