Turkey Rub Recipe featuring Donna Marie’s Signature Blend
1 bottle of Signature Blend Salt Free Spice
3 ½ teaspoons of dried thyme (powder)
3 teaspoons of dried basil (powder)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
½ cup of dark brown sugar
*1 stick of unsalted butter, room temp.
1. The evening before cooking the turkey, clean, prep and dry with paper towel.
2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
3. Start applying the rub generously to all turkey areas on the skin, under the skin and cavity. To get under the skin gently loosen with your fingers to separate the membrane and then rub in the seasoning.
4. The next morning the turkey will be ready to deep fry or oven roast. *If you oven roast the turkey, rub unsalted butter on the inside and outside of the skin.
Internal temperature of the turkey breast must reach 165F. Finish times will vary depending on the size of the turkey. Plan on at least 3 hours for 14lbs and up. I recommend oven roasting at 325F with turkey uncovered and placed near the bottom rack. If the turkey begins to brown too quickly add a foil tent.
